Olafur Eliasson Biography

Born in Denmark in 1967, Olafur Eliasson is a member of the Social Practice movement, which means his work has a conscience that challenges the way we understand our place in, and connection with, the world, asking viewers to think about their role in globalisation and environmentalism. In 1993, his artwork “Beauty” poetically interprets the scientific process of light through water. Green river (1998), a guerilla-style piece, in which he covertly, and safely, changed the colour of rivers in various cities to make people aware of their everyday surroundings in a new way.
